The open concept: Standard hardware compatibility

What is it?

Standard hardware compatibility means that the software runs on standard computer-equipment. A normal PC that is sold in computer-stores, with Windows 95/98/NT/2000 as operating system, is all you need to install the software, connect to a network and participate in telemicroscopy sessions.

What are the advantages?

  • Many other systems require for participants to all use the same, dedicated hardware and operating systems. This inevitably leads to extensive discussions, long periods of trying to co-ordinate everything, and often the necessity to purchase additional and expensive computer systems.
  • With the ZEM software there is no need to buy special hardware. The PC that is used for everyday tasks can also be used to run the ZEM telemicroscopy software.
